‘Strike Back: Shadow Warfare’ preview

Posted Filed under

The ten-part series airs this autumn on Sky1 and Episode 1 sees heroes Michael Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) and Damien Scott (Sullivan Stapleton) resting on their laurels in California, but naturally their vacation doesn’t last long and they’re thrown into yet another seedy criminal underworld.

The banter between Stonebridge and Scott is very much alive and well, however a pivotal moment during the Episode 2 hints at a massive emotional journey for the wise-cracking Scott. Meanwhile Major Rachel Dalton is still kicking-butt and taking names.

Those who enjoyed the frenetic shootouts, high-octane action scenes and vicious baddies from the previous Strike Back outings will not be disappointed. Plus there’s a good smattering of sex in there too for those who aren’t titillated enough by all the massive machine guns.

Martin Clunes puts in a strong performance as ever in the role of former MI6 agent Sebastian Grey, and newcomer Milauna Jackson riffs off the two leads well.

But the real gem here is Robson Green as Colonel Philip Locke – a new member of Section 20 with a “corrosive past”. Locke screeches (with his tyres) into the fray with aplomb and starts calling the shots; Green evidently loving it. You will too.

The screening was followed by a Q&A session with cast members Robson Green, Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester.
