Andrew Lincoln calls time on Walking Dead

As the AMC show heads into its ninth season, Andrew Lincoln is reportedly joining Lauren Cohan in bowing out before the sixteenth episode.

An official statement from AMC is imminent but there is already speculation that Lincoln’s character will not see the ninth finale of the zombie apocalypse show. Lincoln has expressed that while he has loved being a part of the show, he is looking forward to seeing an end point for the character.

It is known that Lauren Cohan, who has played Maggie since the show’s first season, is only booked for six out of the sixteen episodes. This is possibly due to Cohan signing on to a new show for ABC. There is no word on the fate of her character or which episode will be her last.

The network have no current plans for season nine to be the last and have recently secured Angela Kang as the new showrunner. However, there may be more changes planned leading up to the finale as a number of the main cast’s contracts are up for renewal.

While fans speculate the Whisperers are leading the villainous charge for season nine, the biggest question remains; how will Rick Grimes take his leave?
