Assassin’s Creed is being developed as a TV show

Posted Filed under

Having failed to set the world alight as a movie at the start of the year, the Assassin’s Creed videogame series is now set to become a television series instead.

The film take, which starred Michael Fassbender, had been envisaged as the start of a series of movies, with many sequels apparently planned. But the muted response to the film (both critically and commercially) seems to have ended those hopes. Instead, producer Adi Shankar has revealed on Facebook that he’s going to be developing Assassin’s Creed as an anime series, on the smaller screen.

As he posted on his Facebook feed, “I’m happy to let you guys know that I’ve selected my next project! I played the first edition of Assassin’s Creed the year I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream. At that moment I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of Assassin’s Creed and create an original story set in it as an anime series. If anyone tells you not to follow your passion in life they are wrong”.

No further details are available at the moment, though.  You can find Shankar’s Facebook post right here.
