Beeb doubles-down on the “A-ha”s.

Following the recent musings from Steve Coogan on how his chat-meister Alan Partridge could return to the BBC for a new series, it’s now been confirmed that the erstwhile Radio 4, Radio Norfolk, and North Norfolk Digital man will be returning to our screens with not one, but two new shows.

‘The nice man cometh back’, you could say…

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Shane Allen – the head honcho of BBC Comedy – has just announced that Partridge will be back on both BBC One and BBC Two in the coming months – with Two putting together a 60-minute 25th anniversary special to celebrate Alan’s first appearance on BBC Radio all the way back in 1992.
This will be followed by a new BBC One series will then air next year. Both are to be produced by Baby Cow Productions.

Shane Allen said: “Alan Partridge is in the top tier of comedy characters of all time, it fills my comedy heart with joy to welcome him back to BBC One and BBC Two.”

Coogan, for his part, has commented that he would like to do another ‘in universe’ style show with Partridge, along the lines of Knowing Me, Knowing You, as opposed to the sit-com style of I’m Alan Partridge, and the movie Alpha Papa.

We’ll have more when we hear it.
