Aliens Love Underpants Christmas special: Matt Lucas to star in Sky One’s festive treat

Posted Filed under

Having found success with their series of Sky Kids shorts inspired by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort’s Aliens Love Underpants books, the team at Tiger Aspect Productions has been commissioned to create a Christmas special for Sky One inspired by the Aliens Love Panta Claus book.

Matt Lucas, the Little Britain co-creator and Doctor Who alum, will feature in the cast of Aliens Love Panta Claus, alongside Ashley Jensen, Romesh Ranganathan, Joanna Page and Mathew Baynton. Henry Paker will write the script, with David Schweitzer providing the music.

Lucy Murphy of Sky Kids said this about the announcement:

“We pride ourselves on bringing viewers more of the content they love and having seen the success of the Aliens Love Underpants AND… song shorts, it was a natural fit for us to commission a Christmas special with both our animated friends and the team at Tiger Aspect. This is a joyously silly story with such lovable characters and we know the whole family will love it – and won’t be able to stop singing along.”

Also, here’s the synopsis of the Aliens Love Panta Claus book, which could provide some clues for the TV special’s story:

“Aliens love underpants! But they also love Christmas and Santa Claus. So when Santa’s sleigh is broken on Christmas Eve, it’s aliens to the rescue!”

Aliens Love Panta Claus will air on Sky One at some point during the 2018 festive season, before being made available on the Sky Kids app and Sky’s Now TV streaming service.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
