Captain Marvel will appear in Avengers 4, not Infinity War

In a bumper day for ‘who is and isn’t in Avengers: Infinity War’ news, we’ve heard that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel does not make an appearance in next month’s gargantuan Marvel Studios crossover movie. (Peter Dinklage, on the other hand, is slated to show up in Infinity War.)

This fresh piece of Captain Marvel news comes from ComicBook.com writer Brandon Davis, who visited the set of Infinity War and has interviewed its directors (Joe and Anthony Russo) on numerous occasions.

Davis has written a Tweet and an article claiming that, although Captain Marvel was discussed on the set of Infinity War, she will not cross paths with Earth’s mightiest heroes until Avengers 4 (the sequel to Infinity War). His source for this statement appears to be his conversations with Joe and Anthony Russo.

Larson will explore Captain Marvel’s origin story in March 2019’s Captain Marvel movie, which comes out just over a month before Avengers 4. It makes sense for those two movies to share connective tissue, in the same way that Infinity War has a lot of connections to this year’s big Marvel solo movie, Black Panther.

However, as well informed as Davis is, he isn’t one of the filmmakers. It is worth remembering that Davis is a journalist, and we shouldn’t shun the possibility that the Russo brothers are keeping secrets from him. We’ll only be 100% sure of what is and isn’t in Infinity War after the lights go up in the cinema.

Avengers: Infinity War opens in UK cinemas on April 26th, 2018. Captain Marvel arrives March 8th, 2019. Avengers 4 follows on April 26th, 2019.
