The Sparticle Mystery will return to CBBC for a third series.

Set in a modern-day world without adults, thirteen new 30-minute episodes of the sci-fi action adventure drama series have been commissioned and will be filmed on location in Northern Ireland.

The official synopsis reads: “[Series 3] will follow the Tribe Sparticles as they try to solve their biggest mystery to date. Following the quantum-sized mix up which saw the missing parents return as teenagers, the Sparticles are thrown into a Human Zoo at the pleasure of the new ruler, the teenage bully Queen Kylie. In a world where toys are banned and play is frowned upon, there is only one tribe of children who can put the fun back into freedom. And in this brand-new series, The Sparticles must figure out how to dispatch their unwelcome teenage parents back to the right dimension.”

Cheryl Taylor, Controller of CBBC, commmented: “CBBC is proud to bring high quality, homegrown drama and comedy to challenge and entertain our young audience. The fabulously funny All At Sea will be revisiting Charlie and his mischievous pals as they create more chaos in Scarborough. The thrilling and thought-provoking Sparticle Mystery also returns for a long-awaited third series.”

Featuring Annette Badland (Wizards vs Aliens, Doctor Who) and Larissa Wilson (Skins), The Sparticle Mystery launched on CBBC in February 2011 and a second series aired in early 2013.
