Dalek documentary film hits legal stumbling blocks

Posted Filed under

A planned Dalek documentary by the name of The Undiscovered Daleks had been set to tell the story of Doctor Who’s most famous foes. But the project, from Victor Lewis-Smith, has become mired up in legal issues.

The film had promised to include fresh Dalek outtakes, and plenty of behind the scenes stories of Davros’ creations. The project was crowdfunded, with Lewis-Smith’s aim being to “make the world’s first definitive documentary for cinema about the Daleks”.

Whilst the initial crowdfunding campaign failed to raised the targeted £250,000, the plan was still to go ahead with the movie. But the Radio Times is now reporting ‘sources close to the project’ as saying copyright issues – amongst other problems – have got in the way.

Victor Lewis-Smith hasn’t given up on the project, but it’s clear that he faces a few foes of his own if he’s going to get this one off the ground…
