Doctor Who: Frank Skinner jokes about being snubbed for a return

Posted Filed under

It’s little secret that Frank Skinner is a huge Doctor Who fan, and he got to be a part of the show back in 2014’s Mummy On The Orient Express. In that episode, he played the role of Perkins, and with his performance in the bank, that seemed to be that.

But then, following the casting of Jodie Whittaker came the rumour that incoming showrunner Chris Chibnall was looking for an older male companion to travel with the new Doctor in the TARDIS. As reported by Digital Spy, Skinner had something to say about that over the weekend, on his Absolute Radio show.

“This is what seems to have happened”, Skinner said. “There’s been a big meeting at Doctor Who and they’ve said ‘we’ve got a female Doctor Who now, what’s the ideal combination? What about a middle-aged comedian?”

You can see where this is going. “And they’ve all looked at each other and said ‘Bradley Walsh’. Imagine how that makes me feel!”

Bradley Walsh is strongly rumoured to be the next Doctor Who companion, but the casting has not – understandably – been commented on by the BBC. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more!
