Doctor Who: Michelle Ryan returning for audio drama

Posted Filed under

Michelle Ryan is returning to her Doctor Who role for a Big Finish audio drama series. David Tennant will not appear alongside her.

Ryan played a glamorous master thief by the name of Lady Christina de Souza, alongside Tennant’s Doctor, in the 2009 special Planet Of The Dead. At the end of the episode, she evaded the authorities by flying off in a red double-decker bus.

Ryan will now appear in four audio productions, which will pick up where Planet Of The Dead left off: It Takes A Thief by John Dorney, Skin Deep by James Goss, Portrait Of A Lady by Tim Dawson, and Death On The Mile by Donald McLeary.

Ryan herself has said this about the new project:

“Being asked to revisit the role of Lady Christina was a very easy decision. Adventure, a sunny climate and mind-boggling scenarios are included in the scripts, everything I remember of my Doctor Who experience.

“Alas no David Tennant, but there’s a host of new characters to help along the way. I love that we get to see a little more of her heart in the stories, that she does care about the greater good whilst also satisfying her curiosity for life.”

Starring alongside Ryan in these dramas is Luther actor Warren Brown and Who alum Jacqueline King (who is reprising her performance as Donna’s mum, Sylvia Noble).

These Lady Christina de Souza stories are expected to arrive in September 2018.
