Details have been confirmed for Doctor Who’s official 50th anniversary celebration weekend later this year.

Taking place at ExCel in London on 22, 23 and 24 November, the event’s special guests will include Matt Smith, Tom Baker, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy.

Matt Smith commented: “The event this year will be an extra special occasion for me, I’m truly looking forward to a huge celebration with the fans in the lead up to the 50th anniversary episode.”

Tickets will go on general sale at 11am on Monday 8 July from celebration.doctorwho.tv. Standard tickets are priced at £45 for adults and £20 for kids, while a family ticket will cost £104 (two adults and two children). Tickets cover entry for one day.

Activities will include theatre panel shows featuring star guests from 50 years of Doctor Who, a special effects show hosted by special effects guru Danny Hargreaves, stunt workshops, audio and visual effect workshops, walk-like-a-monster master-classes, plus quizzes and games.

Update [26 September 2013]: After tickets were snapped up in less than 24 hours earlier this year, BBC Worldwide has revealed that a limited number of additional tickets are now available to apply for via a ballot process. The ballot can be entered online and via telephone now (0844 693 0780), and will remain open until 10am (BST) on Monday 30 September.
