Steven Moffat has confirmed that Peter Capaldi will definitely be returning as the Doctor in the next season of Doctor Who.
The showrunner told The Hollywood Reporter in London yesterday: “Yes, he’s confirmed.”
He later added that Jenna Coleman, who plays Clara, has not been confirmed to appear in Season 9.
The new season begins filming in January and there have been rumours that Coleman will not be returning after this year’s Christmas special.
Moffat recently hinted that the show’s next companion might not be a young female from present day Earth, teasing: “Wait and see.”
Season 8 concluded on BBC One earlier this month.
