Freema Agyeman ‘over the moon’ to work with Peter Davison

Posted Filed under

Davison played the Fifth Doctor on Doctor Who between 1981 and 1984, returning for a special Children In Need episode with David Tennant in November 2007, while Freema Agyeman played companion Martha Jones between 2007 and 2010.

Davison has joined the regular cast of Law & Order: UK for Series 5 as “down to earth pragmatist” Henry Sharpe, who takes over the job of Director of the CPS, alongside Agyeman as Crown Prosecutor Alesha Phillips.

Agyeman commented: “I had previously met Peter at the Monte Carlo Film and TV Festival a few years back. I was there with a Doctor Who producer who had been nominated and while he was off fulfilling his press requirements I spent a lot of time in Peter’s family set up. He was there with his wife and children and they invited me to join them for dinners and lunches; he completely scooped me up and welcomed me into his fold.

She continued: “So having that prior experience of him and of course the Doctor Who connection I was over the moon when he joined the cast. Peter has such a youthfulness about him, a great sense of humour and such a great general attitude towards life so it’s really been a joy.”

Series 5 Episode 1 aired at the weekend and the series continues at 9pm on Sunday nights on ITV1.
