Halo: TV series based on videogame franchise to finally film this autumn

There’s been talk about bringing the world of Halo, the hit Xbox gaming franchise, to the screen for some time. At one stage, Microsoft was pursuing a movie, that was interesting an assortment of studios just over a decade ago. But Microsoft’s financial demands for the project ultimately put lots of people off.

Now, though, there’s been some progress in bringing the world of Halo to the screen, with the news that a planned television series is pressing ahead instead.

It’s being overseen by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, who has had it in development for the past few years. But it’s now been revealed that filming is being earmarked for the back end of 2018. That, in turn, suggests that the Halo TV show will premiere later in 2019.

No casting has thus far been announced for the show. Showtime is the American TV network that’s set to fund it.
