ITV plans Hatton Garden raid of its own with Mrs Biggs writer and director

ITV’s new drama will tell the tale of the Hatton Garden raid, and chart its aftermath.

One of the most talked about British crimes of the last decade is to be dramatised by BAFTA winning screenwriter Jeff Pope (Little Boy Blue, Mrs Biggs). Co-written with Terry Winsor (Hot Money, Essex Boys), and directed by Paul Whittington (Little Boy Blue, Cilla, Mrs Biggs), Hatton Garden will tell the tale of the infamous jewellery and cash burglary. A heist that was, if you recall, executed by a, ahem… ‘mature’ gang of career criminals across over the Easter weekend of 2015.

Timothy Spall (The Enfield Haunting), Kenneth Cranham (War & Peace) and Brian F. O’Byrne (Little Boy Blue) will lead the cast. David Hayman, Alex Norton, Ian Puleston-Davies, Geoff Bell and Nasser Memarzia will make up the rest of the gang.

Across four 60 minute episodes the drama will chart the inside story of how the men pulled off the massive job. It will also offer insight into the level of planning, preparation and organisation that went into clearing out the vault of the Hatton Garden Safety Deposit Company, and how the police caught up with the thieves.

Hatton Garden will begin filming this month in London.
