Six new episodes will begin filming on location in Leeds next year.

Series 2 will see the newly-divorced Monroe “coming to terms with his single life and throwing himself with even greater energy into the life of St Matthew’s Hospital and the challenges of the operating theatre”.

Sarah Parish (Cutting It) will also return as cardiac surgeon Jenny Bremner, alongside two major new additions to the cast who will “challenge Monroe’s world in significant ways”.

Created by writer Peter Bowker (Desperate Romantics), Series 1 launched on ITV1 in March.
