Jennifer Saunders joins BBC Three comedy ‘Dead Boss’

Written by Sharon Horgan (Pulling) and Holly Walsh, the six-part series stars Sharon as Helen Stephens, a woman who finds herself falsely imprisoned for murdering her boss. Against a backdrop of life in Broadmarsh Prison, Helen fights to prove her innocence by finding her boss’s real killer.

Horgan and Walsh commented: “We’re thrilled to see our show, which we’ve spent the last decade and a half writing, coming to life with such a ridiculously talented cast and under the direction of a visionary like [director] Steve Bendelack.”

Saunders will play Margaret, the governor of Broadmarsh Prison, alongside Geoff McGivern (Peep Show) as Tony, Helen’s hapless lawyer, and Bryony Hannah (Call The Midwife) as Christine, Helen’s arsonist cellmate.

The cast also includes Aisling Bea (Come Fly With Me) as Helen’s self-obsessed younger sister, Amanda Lawrence (Above Suspicion) as Mary, Helen’s nemesis from her former work place, and Edward Hogg (Misfits).

Filming has already begun and the series is set to air on BBC Three later this spring.
