The BBC has confirmed today that Line of Duty will return for at least another two seasons.
The police corruption drama launched on BBC Two in June 2012 and the show’s fourth season concluded on BBC One last weekend.
The announcement was revealed on Twitter this morning:
Season 5 will begin filming next year and is expected to air in early 2019.
Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio told The Mirror earlier this week: “We haven’t even decided if the next antagonist will be male or female, we are that far off from puzzling it out.”
He added: “I want to look at the personal lives of all the regulars in series five. They’ve taken a backseat in this series to Roz Huntley, so it would be good to explore that side of things a bit more. The regulars are definitely up for doing more.”
