The series will star British actor Jonny Lee Miller (Dexter) as Holmes. Deadline describe Elementary‘s take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective as “a former consultant to Scotland Yard whose addiction problems led him to a rehab center in New York City”.

Liu’s Joan Watson will be Sherlock’s “sober companion… a former surgeon who lost her license after a patient died, while consulting for the NYPD”.

The pilot will be directed by Michael Cuesta (Homeland).
