‘Misfits’ star Lauren Socha: ‘I don’t feel ready for America’

Socha returns as Kelly in the E4 drama’s third series later this month, which sees Joe Gilgun (This Is England ’86) join the cast as new guy Rudy, following the departure of Robert Sheehan as Nathan.

Discussing the possibility of pursuing roles in the US, the actress explained: “Maybe in the future. I’m still learning. I’m really only just starting off. I came into this when I was 19, straight after I did the film The Unloved; a week later, I had an audition for this, and I got the part.”

She continued: “I didn’t go to drama school or anything like that, so I don’t feel ready for America yet; maybe in my late 20s or early 30s. It’s massive, isn’t it? I wouldn’t feel comfortable going there yet.”

Socha also named Johnny Depp as the actor she’d most like to work this: “He’s absolutely amazing, he’s so versatile.”

She added: “I don’t think he’s that good looking. And I’ve heard that he’s dead little. He’s not my cup of tea, but he’s a really good actor.”
