Mike Bartlett, the writer of Doctor Foster and King Charles III, has written a BBC One drama about two warring newspapers. Press will premiere on September 6th at 9pm, and you can watch the official trailer now.

The BBC sums up the story of Press thusly:

“Set in the fast-paced and challenging environment of the British newspaper industry, Press will immerse viewers in the personal lives and the constant professional dilemmas facing its characters.

“The series follows their lives as they attempt to balance work and play, ambition and integrity, amid the never-ending pressure of the 24-hour global news cycle and an industry in turmoil.”

And you can watch the trailer right here…

Charlotte Riley, Ben Chaplin, Priyanga Burford, Paapa Essiedu, Shane Zaza, Ellie Kendrick, Al Weaver, Brendan Cowell and David Suchet make up the impressive core cast of Press.

This is a series with a lot of prestige, then, which could have a lot of resonance in the current media climate. We can’t wait to see how the series plays out, and whether it stimulates some interesting discussions.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for September 6th if you want to watch the first episode as quickly as humanly possible.

We’ll bring you more news on Press as we hear it.
