Sky has set the release dates for 9-1-1 and Instinct, with August shaping up to be a big month of crime content for Sky customers/Now TV Entertainment members. Both shows have been imported from American networks for your viewing pleasure.

9-1-1, which stars Angela Bassett and boasts Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk as its creators, is set to debut on Sky Witness and Now TV on August 15th. The synopsis and the trailer for the show, which was made by the Fox network over in the USA, can be found right here:

“From prolific creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, new procedural drama 9-1-1 is a fast-paced exploration into the lives and careers of first responders – cops, paramedics, firefighters – the people who put their lives on the line to save others. Starring Academy and Emmy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Angela Bassett (American Horror Story, What’s Love Got to Do with It), the series is based on the real-life, high-pressure experiences of emergency response providers who are thrust into heart-stopping situations that are equal parts unpredictable, intense and uplifting.

“These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. Emmy Award- and Golden Globe-nominated actor Peter Krause (The Catch, Six Feet Under) and Emmy Award-nominated actress Connie Britton (Nashville, Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story) have been cast in lead roles. Oliver Stark, Kenneth Choi and Rockmond Dunbar have been cast in series regular roles.”

Instinct, starring Alan Cumming and Lizzie Needham, is set to debut on Sky Witness and Now TV on August 23rd. Here’s the synopsis and the trailer for the show, which was produced by CBS in the States:

“Instinct stars Alan Cumming as a former CIA operative who is lured back to his old life when the NYPD needs his help to stop a serial killer. Dr. Dylan Reinhart is a gifted author and university professor living a quiet life teaching psychopathic behavior to packed classes of adoring students. But when tenacious top NYPD detective Lizzie Needham appeals to him to help her catch a serial murderer who is using Dylan’s first book as a tutorial, Dylan is compelled by the case and comes out of retirement.

“Helping them is Julian Cousins, Dylan’s invaluable CIA comrade who rivals Dylan in brilliance and wit, and can get top-secret dirt on anyone, anywhere, anytime. Lizzie’s boss, Lt. Jasmine Gooden, is glad to see her best detective finally agree to work with someone on a case, since Lizzie has refused any partner since a tragic event one year ago. But as Dylan feels reenergized tapping into his old skill set, his husband, Andy, is concerned that Dylan’s breaking their pact about putting away his cloak and dagger for good. Though Dylan and Lizzie initially clash, when it comes to catching killers, they realize they will make an ideal team if they both trust their instincts. Based on the James Patterson novel.”

Those dates again are August 15th for 9-1-1 and August 23rd for Instinct, with both shows set to air on Sky Witness and Now TV.
