The Big Bang Theory: Mark Hamill to appear in season 11 finale

CBS has lined up its next big guest star for The Big Bang Theory. Mark Hamill – the actor behind Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movies, The Joker in the Arkham Asylum games, and The Trickster in The Flash TV series – has signed up to appear in the season 11 finale of this immensely popular sitcom.

Fans already knew that The Big Bang Theory season 11 finale will feature the wedding of Jim Parsons’ Sheldon and Mayim Bialik’s Amy, but this news should add an extra layer of excitement to the pre-episode hype.

Other confirmed guest stars for this geeky day of nuptials include Will Wheaton and Kathy Bates. It remains to be seen which role any of these stars will play in Sheldon and Amy’s big day, but wouldn’t it be fun to see Hamill donning some of his iconic Jedi robes to officiate the ceremony? We’ll just have to wait and watch to find out how Hamill slots into the episode, of course.

Hamill is no stranger to playing fictionalised versions of himself. In the decades since he became a star the world over thanks to Luke Skywalker, Hamill has shown up in all sorts of places, often gently taking the mickey out of himself. Hamill’s appearance as himself, in character as the villainous ‘Cocknocker’ in Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, is a particularly memorable example. The ‘use the forks’ moment from The Simpsons is another brilliant one.

The Big Bang Theory‘s season finale debuts Stateside on May 10th.
