The Walking Dead: Maggie will “hopefully” return in season 10

Lauren Cohan’s Maggie Rhee (nee Greene) could well return in The Walking Dead season 10, as the actress is already texting the producers to chat about ideas.

Maggie left the show in season 9 – at the same time as Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes, albeit in a subtler way – as she passed up her chance to get revenge of Negan and brought her current Glenn-avenging story arc to a close.

In real life, Cohan has gone off to make a new show called Whiskey Cavalier for ABC. In the world of The Walking Dead, Maggie is alive and well. She’s out of the spotlight, but there’s nothing stopping a comeback when Cohan’s schedule permits.

By the sounds of it, this could well happen in conjunction with The Walking Dead season 10. Speaking to ComicBook.com, showrunner Angela Kang said this:

“We will hopefully come back to Maggie’s story in season 10… Lauren and I have been texting about some things, and we’re hopefully gonna schedule a conversation, but Georgie’s group is definitely out there in world doing some stuff, and I have some notion of what they’re up to. They may also be part of the universe in general. That’s really up to Scott [Gimple], but we’ll see how it all plays out.”

If you’re wondering, Scott Gimple is the former showrunner of The Walking Dead that now serves as the franchise’s overseer at AMC. He’s keeping an eye on The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead, and the trilogy of Rick Grimes movies that Lincoln is set to star in.

We’ll have to wait and see to find out how Maggie’s eventual return can factor into the franchise plans at large, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted with all the latest updates along the way.
