The Walking Dead season 9: Abraham actor returning to direct

Posted Filed under

Michael Cudlitz, who played Sergeant Abraham Ford in 38 episodes of The Walking Dead, is returning to AMC’s zombie drama to direct an episode of the show’s ninth season. Cudlitz will be the first Walking Dead actor to step behind the camera and take on directorial duties.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like Cudlitz return to The Walking Dead‘s set will facilitate any sort of on-camera return for Abraham. The moustachioed military man was brutally bludgeoned to death by Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan, way back in the season 7 premiere, and there really is no coming back from that.

The Walking Dead has played around with dream sequences and hallucinations to briefly bring back characters in the past, though, so perhaps we shouldn’t completely rule out an Abraham appearance at some point. The Walking Dead season 9 is already plotting one long-dead character’s cameo, after all, with Shane actorJon Bernthal slated to make an appearance.

All we know regarding Cudlitz’s return is that he will direct The Walking Dead season 9 episode 7. This will be the actor’s directorial debut, and it will be interesting to see if it will be an action-heavy episode or a more chatty one.

As we hear more news on The Walking Dead season 9, we’ll be sure to let you know.
