They may share a network, numerous producers and the same Archie Comics source material, but there are no plans at present for Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina to intersect with a crossover episode.
The CW’s network president, Mark Pedowitz, made this clear at a swanky press event in the USA: no one from Riverdale will show up in Sabrina’s neck of the words when her first set of chilling adventures debut in October.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who works as an executive producer on both shows, offered this explanation for the lack of interconnectivity between the show: “I think right now we’re just making sure that the shows have their own identities and own set of rules.”
Aguirre-Sacasa also teased that another Archie-Comics-inspired series is in the works at The CW. Of this mysterious third show, he said this: “We’re still early on in the process and it will be very different from Riverdale.”
As for the upcoming third season of Riverdale, fans can expect to see the long-awaited Midnight Club episode as the fourth instalment of the season. In this flashback episode, the young cast members will play their characters’ parents.
Riverdale season 3 will kick off on The CW on 11th October, and the premiere should pop up on UK Netflix the following day. The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina has a UK Netflix release date of October 26th.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more on all three shows.
