Titans season 2 casts Joshua Orpin as Superboy

Titans, the gritty live-action adaptation of the Teen Titans comics, will add Superboy to its heroic youth club roster in its second season. The part will be played by Joshua Orpin. Here’s everything we know…

Orpin – whose previous credits include a brace of short films, two lesser-known TV projects and a feature entitled The Neon Spectrum – will surely see this gig as big break in his career.

Titans airs on the DC Universe streaming service in American and Netflix here in the UK. The PR team at DC Universe has shared this description of Orpin’s character:

“Superboy, a.k.a. Conner Kent, is the angsty teenager of steel searching for purpose and the truth about his past. While looking for answers, he crashes into the world of the Titans where he finds an unlikely home and surrogate family as well as revelations that carry more complications than he ever bargained for.”

The character of Conner Kent was created by Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett in 1993. He was initially portrayed as an artificially created metahuman clone with genetic similarities to Superman. The character’s backstory has been revamped twice since then, though, so there are numerous directions that the Titans team could go with.

Certainly, one thing that’s for sure is that fact that Orpin looks the part. He’s got the dark hair/strong chin thing going on, which is always a very Kryptonian look.

We’ll bring you more news as we hear it. We don’t have a release date yet for Titans season 2.
