Red Dwarf: a live stage show is being planned

Red Dwarf

Red Dwarf continues to enjoy good ratings and a warm audience response, and its current run on Dave has proven to be a further success. The co-creator of the show, Doug Naylor, is believed to be working on a further series, should Dave be after one. But he also has other plans where Red Dwarf is concerned.

“We want to do a tour of some kind, we’ve got a few things in the pipeline”, he revealed The Express. He expanded on this, adding that “when I say a tour, I mean do a live show at the O2, so we need to get a schedule that works for the O2 and certainly for Red Dwarf XIII”.

A tour was first mooted a year or two back. But it sounds as though things have progressed.

Naylor also confirmed that a new series hadn’t been officially commissioned yet, but added “everyone wants to do it, including UKTV”.

Whether a new series or a live tour comes first remains to be seen. It’s clear, though, that Red Dwarf is in rude health right now…
