‘Silk’: Series 2 Episode 1 teasers

Posted Filed under

Legal drama Silk returns next month for a second series, starring Maxine Peake (Shameless) and Rupert Penry-Jones (Spooks).

In her first case since taking silk, Martha Costello is charged with defending Brendan Kay, a man accused of viciously assaulting a carwash attendant after an altercation with a member of one of London’s most notorious criminal families, Jody Farr.

It seems an open-and-shut case, and although even Kay’s lawyer Micky Joy is expecting his client to be proved guilty, Martha believes otherwise. Yet with Shoe Lane senior clerk Billy Lamb unwilling to tread on Joy’s toes, can the newly-qualified QC afford to stand up for the truth?

Series 2 Episode 1 airs at 9pm on Tuesday 15th May on BBC One. To whet your appetite, here are ten teasing lines of dialogue from the episode…

» ‘It’s never a good idea to sleep with a professional colleague.’

» ‘The law and what’s right and wrong aren’t always the same thing.’

» ‘It was like he was describing opening a tin of beans.’

» ‘I’m sisterly out of court and vicious in court.’

» ‘Money is tight, boys, and clerking just gets tougher.’

» ‘I’m 38, Billy. It’s hardly mid-life.’

» ‘You won’t have any clients if you don’t get real.’

» ‘Silk will buy you many things, Miss Costello, but not the patience of judges.’

» ‘I’m menopausal; I’m far too pissed off to talk to him.’

» ‘We need to celebrate the triumph and handle the disaster.’
