Directed by Lars von Trier (Dancer in the Dark) and nominated for the Palme D’or at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, Melancholia is an extravagant and beautiful story about the end of the world.

At a lavish ceremony hosted by her sister (Gainsbourg), the wedding of Justine (Dunst) and her fiancé (Skarsgård) is marred by fractious familial exchanges and Justine’s battle with her own inner demons. Meanwhile, the mysterious planet Melancholia emerges from behind the sun and appears to be headed on an apocalyptic collision course with the Earth…
