Just because you don’t have a television, doesn’t mean that you can’t still watch quality entertainment!
A little website called YouTube contains more videos than you could ever watch in a lifetime, but there are obviously channels to check out, channels to avoid like the plague, and even channels to catch up on older TV series. Luckily, we’ve rounded up a few of our favourites so you don’t have to do the hard work.
Whether you’re into pop culture, sports, or cooking, you’re bound to love one or more of these awesome YouTube channels.
Jamie Oliver
Love him or hate him, the guy knows how to cook and is one of the more interesting celebrity chefs out there. Delivering quick, uncomplicated and fun videos for delicious recipes, Jamie Oliver’s Food Tube has essentially a guide for everything, from simple chicken curries to homemade BBQ sauce to cooking the perfect steak. If you’re looking for a new spin on an old recipe, then give Jamie’s channel a look.
Smosh
Smosh is, well… Smosh. Difficult to summarise exactly, but the channel could best be described as video game and pop culture comedy sketches. Their style of humour might be a bit hard to grasp for some, but their energy and enthusiasm for every sketch is undeniable. The level of content is quite astounding, so even if you don’t like one video, you can be sure there will be another one right around the corner that you may enjoy. The channel is perhaps best known for their “Every (blank) Ever” (Americans, superheroes, the Oscars) and “If (blank) Were Real” (Disney princesses, video game items, movies) sketches.
But hey, if a channel has over 22 million subscribers, then you must be doing something right. Smosh has been around since 2005 and currently ranks in the top 10 of YouTube’s most popular channels. They are also among the top earners on YouTube, reportedly taking home roughly $20,500 – $310,000 every month through YouTube’s Partner Program.
Dude Perfect
Want to see a group of Americans attempt some incredible trick shots with basketballs, footballs, pool balls and more? It’s hard to say no to that, as Dude Perfect will stun you into disbelief with their unbelievable range of artsy trick shots. Inventive, impossible, insane… whatever you want to call them, the videos are a great watch for something light and breezy. The group also have some fun regular videos like “Things in Slow-Mo” and “Stereotypes.”
