It may not have dawned on you yet, but Valentine’s Day is only a few days away. If you didn’t realise, you’re probably wondering what to do for the big day.
Romance might not be something that comes naturally to you, but why not go to the cinema or rent a movie to watch on DVD cuddled up at home?
If you’re deciding what to watch, you might think your only option is to watch a formulaic rom-com that’s a little light in the ‘com’ department, but there are romantic films that guys can enjoy just as much as the girls (and they don’t need to star Sarah Jessica Parker and/or Matthew McConaughey). Here are three little gems recommended by the people at Diamond Manufacturers…
Shaun of the Dead
Starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost from Spaced, 2004’s so-called ‘zom-rom-com’ has it all – zombies, shootings, great one-liners and a ridiculous storyline. It also has a great love story where Shaun tries to get the girl and save the planet from a plague of the undead, making it great alternative Valentine’s Day fare.
True Romance
The clue’s in the title, right? It may have come from the pen of Quentin Tarantino, but it’s no less romantic than anything with Hugh Grant in it. The 1993 movie’s story follows Clarence (Christian Slater) and hooker Alabama (Patricia Arquette) and their journey to Hollywood to sell cocaine they stole from her pimp. Now if that’s not true romance, we don’t know what is.
Zack and Miri Make a Porno
Zack and Miri (Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks), to try and pay the bills, decide to make their own porn movie. On the face of it, it might not sound like classic Valentine’s viewing, but this laugh-a-minute comedy from the twisted mind of Kevin Smith has a romantic edge to it.

If you’re shelling out for jewellery for your beloved this Valentine’s Day then Diamond Manufacturers are on hand to help with that too, but there’s nothing to say that the 14th February should be exclusively a day for the ladies, and a romantic night in with some more outré viewing should take some of the sting out of it.
