Top TV personalities to follow on Twitter

Posted Filed under

Television is one of the most popular forms of entertainment in modern day society, with millions tuning into their favourite shows every night of the week.

Although the show’s content and themes making it appealing, it’s the hosts who are the main point of attraction, as their presenting skills and personalities have to capture the audience. Being a popular host also brings with it fans, and in the age of social media, these TV stars can interact with their followers with ease.

Here are a few top figures to check out on Twitter…

Jeremy Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson is a Marmite TV personality – you’ll either love him or hate him! (Or really hate him.)

The ever topical Clarkson has been the presenter of BBC’s motoring show Top Gear since 1998 and is renowned for making ridiculous statements on a whole host of areas ranging from politics, sports – and of course – cars.

Despite the BBC pulling him up on toning down on these issues, Clarkson constantly goes full speed ahead and lets loose what is on his tiny, ignorant mind. He’s at his best on Twitter when filming new material for Top Gear as he gives the fans an insight into what’s coming up, as well as taking the mickey out of his co-presenters!

Holly Willoughby

As the co-host of ITV’s flagship morning show This Morning, Holly Willoughby has become a national sweetheart with her on-screen persona.

It safe to say she isn’t always so serious on the show, often bursting into fits of hysterics due to Phillip Schofield or Gino D’Acampo’s choice of phrases. Holly is always sending messages on her Twitter account, either updating fans on how her young children are getting on, what she’s watching TV or just stating her opinion!

Ant & Dec

Ant and Dec have been stalwarts of British television ever since they first appeared as PJ and Duncan in Byker Grove way back in 1989.

After their acting days (and a brief stint in the music industry!), the duo have gone on to host some of the greatest shows of the last two decades, with the likes of SMTV Live, I’m A Celebrity, Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and Britain’s Got Talent all to their name. Sharing a Twitter account may seem strange, but they are always with each other in the public eye!

You’ll know which one is tweeting though, as they sign off with their own initials and they come across so positive on social media, Gala Bingo ranked them as the 9th Happiest Celebrity Tweeter out there!

Fearne Cotton

Although Keith Lemon constantly takes the mickey out of her on the hit TV show Celebrity Juice, Fearne is still one of our best loved stars.

Rising to fame on the children’s show Diggit in the late 1990’s, she has become a television and radio star in her own right. As well as tweeting about new music she has played on her Radio One show, Fearne also promotes the latest fashion trends her brand is releasing as well as bits and pieces from her everyday family life.

Jonathan Ross

He may have had his moments of controversy in the past, but it seems like Jonathan Ross is on the straight and narrow (or at least close to it)!

As one of the greatest chat show hosts of all time, Ross has connections in all the right places and is always tweeting about up-coming movies he has seen or guests who will be appearing on his show. However, he also has a much softer side away from the limelight, sending tweets out promoting a variety of different charities and giving them as much publicity as possible.
