Superhero season may be over, but just because summer’s finished doesn’t mean that Hollywood hasn’t still got some epic movies left for 2013.

Ender’s Game
When’s it out? 25 October 2013.
Who’s in it? Asa Butterfield, Abigail Breslin, Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis.
What’s it about? In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham, all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin, a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.
Thor: The Dark World
When’s it out? 30 October 2013.
Who’s in it? Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Christopher Eccleston.
What’s it about? Thor, the Mighty Avenger, battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos… but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Gravity
When’s it out? 8 November 2013.
Who’s in it? George Clooney, Sandra Bullock.
What’s it about? Dr. Ryan Stone is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
When’s it out? 21 November 2013.
Who’s in it? Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth.
What’s it about? Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug
When’s it out? 13 December 2013.
Who’s in it? Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Andy Serkis, Stephen Fry.
What’s it about? The second in a trilogy of films adapting J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.
