Currently filming the final block of the BBC One drama’s second series, executive producers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss and cast members Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman kindly took time out of their busy schedules to chat about the upcoming series in the legendary Blue Box Café (which may be familiar to Doctor Who Confidential viewers).
Following a tour of the 221b Baker Street interior set by producer Sue Vertue, exploring every nook and cranny from the contents of the titular detective’s kitchen sink to Mrs Hudson’s hallway, we were taken to the editing room where we were treated to a rough cut of the thrilling opening ten minutes of ‘Hounds of the Baskerville’ by editor Charlie Phillips and introduced to a tense 6-minute scene from series finale ‘The Reichenbach Fall’ by the episode’s director, Toby Haynes.
Our full behind-the-scenes coverage won’t be published on the site until shortly before Series 2 airs – expected to be in December or early next year, we’re told – but we are allowed to report that actress Lara Pulver has been cast in the much-discussed role of Irene Adler in Steven Moffat’s ‘A Scandal in Belgravia’.
The True Blood star will also appear in the upcoming tenth series of Spooks as a new lead character, Erin Watts. In our recent interview with Lara, she had mentioned that she was “working on a new BBC TV show, which unfortunately I can’t talk about”.
