70 Up will bring the Seven Up! group to our screens one final time this September

After first appearing in 1964, the children in ITV’s epic documentary series are now 70 years olds. Time for one last looking at their lives.

What are 70 Up and 7 Up

In 1964, ITV created Seven Up!, bringing fourteen children (ten boys, four girls) to the nation’s screens. Chosen to reflect the then range of socio-economic backgrounds, they have had the chance to reappear every seven years and let us compare who they are with how they wore. Many declined the chance, with some choosing to come back after an extended absence. It’s been a fascinating series, with follow-up shows every seven years. Now we get to meet some of the original contributors at 70. It seems all surviving participants are taking part in the final documentary, including one with a pre-recorded interview made for the show.

There will be 2×90′ episodes beginning on September 15 at 9 pm.

In making the show, producers also found footage from around 1964 of interviews with a group of 70 year old. Restored and remastered, these are the basis of 70 Up: The Victorians.
