Back to the beach for a new era of Baywatch

Prepare for six-packs and beach bodies galore starting next January on Sky & NOW.

What do we know about the new series of Baywatch

First, let’s take a moment to remind ourselves (if we were there) just how big a show it was. Running for 11 seasons, the David Hasselhoff led show was at one stage the most watched show in the world. Here’s how the Guinness World Records calculated a total audience of nearly six billion views for the show (close to the then population of the world!)

As to the 2027 reboot, Sky’s press release tells us:

Fans can expect all the adrenaline-fuelled rescues, tangled relationships, complicated chemistry and beachside heroics that defined the original – now with a new cast, contemporary trappings, tensions and challenges, and a renewed mission to save lives along Southern California’s coastline.

The new version of Baywatch finds wild-child legacy character Hobie Buchannon (Stephen Amell) serving as a Baywatch Captain, following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch. Hobie’s world is turned upside down when his daughter Charlie Vale (Jessica Belkin) shows up on his doorstep eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy.

The series also stars Hassie Harrison as Nat, Shay Mitchell as Trina, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Noah Beck as Luke, and Brooks Nader as Selene. In recurring roles, Livvy Dunne will make her acting debut as Grace and David Chokachi will reprise his original series character of Cody Madison. Erika Eleniak will also reprise her original role as Shauni McClain as a guest star.

Meanwhile, autumn may be well under way in the UK, so enjoy the trailer and shake off those seasonal blues!
