Disney has announced a third film from one of its most iconic properties — here’s what we know so far about Camp Rock 3

2008’s Camp Rock is hailed as one of Disney’s most popular original Disney Movies, followed by Camp Rock 2 in 2010. Disney has recently announced a third instalment to the story of Camp Rock. Some familiar faces will be joined by new talent to tell the latest story in the series, with a peek behind the scenes being released.

What’s Camp Rock 3 about?

When Connect 3 lose their opening act for a major tour, they return to Camp Rock to find new talent to fill the opening. As campers struggle for the chance to open for Connect 3, tensions rise and friendships are tested, leading to alliances, revelations and romance. The music that set the foundation for Camp Rock‘s lasting power for those who grew up alongside the first two films. Fans are anticipating how the nostalgic feel of the musical moments might merge with more a contemporary sound.

Who’s in it?

Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas and Demi Lovato are set to return to their original roles. They’ll be starring alongside Liamani Segura (High School Musical: The Musical), Malachi Barton (ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires), Lumi Pollack (Electric Bloom), newcomer Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter (The Thundermans), Brooklynn Pitts (Chicken Girls), Ava Jean (Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale) and Sherry Cola (Joyride).

Who’s behind it?

Veronica Rodriguez (The Slumber Party) is set to direct, with Eydie Faye (Fuller House) writing. Spencer Berman (Are You Afraid of the Dark?), Tim Federle (High School Musical: The Musical), Joe Jonas, Kevin Jonas, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, Gary Marsh (Descendants: Wicked Wonderland) and Betsy Sullenger (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) have been announced as executive producers.

When’s it out?

No release date has been announced, but filming has begun in Vancouver.
