The stars are studding the cast list for the upcoming supernatural thriller film Blasphemous, here’s what we know so far about the project:

What’s it about?

A devout cleric mentor and his newcomer priest are tasked with transporting a woman who has succumbed to possession to a secure location. What really, really shouldn’t happen does happen and she escapes, causing absolute chaos. The two men stay true to their duty and put their lives and faith on the line to try and get her to her exorcism.

Who’s in it?

The cast for the film includes Karen Gillian (Doctor Who), Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) and Clive Owen (Children of Men), with the potential for more to be added to the list in the future.

Who’s behind it?

Blasphemous will mark the directorial debut for screenwriter Luke Piotrowski (Hellraiser). Scott Strauss (Easy A), Basil Iwanyk (John Wick), Erica Lee (Dust Bunny), Dwayne Johnson (The Smashing Machine), Dany Garcia (Moana), Hiram Garcia (Black Adam), Gillian and Jess Biddle (Ashridge) have been listed as producers. This litany of experience gives a hint at the faith the producers have in the story of Blasphemous.

When’s it out?

Although no official timeline for post-production and release has been confirmed, the team are hoping to get production underway this August.
