Corriedale — the epic ITV soap crossover is coming in 2026
What do you get if you mix a 65 years old soap (Coronation Street, first aired December 9, 1960) and a young 53 years old soap (Emmerdale, first aired October 16, 1973)? Yes, it’s Corriedale!
ITV soap crossover, Corriedale, enters production
ITV has announced filming has begun on the special one off celebration of the nation’s two most watched soap operas, which will see the residents of Weatherfield join forces with their Yorkshire neighbours in an action packed hour of drama.
In terms of details, all we have (so far) is:
Corriedale will air on ITV, STV, ITVX and Youtube in early 2026, and will herald the start of the new soap power hour schedule, with each show screening 30 minute episodes every weekday, Emmerdale at 8pm and Coronation Street at 8.30pm.
Both soaps are marking the occasion in spectacular style, the combined production teams have embarked on an ambitious stunt that will have everlasting consequences for everyone involved.
Cameras started rolling on the highly anticipated production at the end of September — with details of the stunt and which characters are involved being kept under wraps for the time being.
Despite their age, the soaps are still bringing in the audience. The announcement also mentioned both soaps have hit a milestone of over 350 million streams on ITVX so far throughout 2025, an increase of 31% year on year. In August alone, both shows hit almost 40 million streams, which also marked a 24% uplift on the same period in 2024.
