Various photos of filming on Channel 4′s Cucumber and E4’s Banana have been tweeted online.

Currently shooting in Manchester, the two new eight-part drama series are written and created by Russell T Davies (Doctor Who, Queer as Folk).

Exploring “the passions and pitfalls of 21st century gay life”, Cucumber stars Vincent Franklin (The Thick of It), Julie Hesmondhalgh (Coronation Street), Fisayo Akinade (Fresh Meat) and Freddie Fox (Parade’s End), while Banana stars Hannah John-Kamen (Happy Valley), Letitia Wright (Top Boy), Georgia Henshaw (Waterloo Road), Andrew Hayden-Smith (Doctor Who) and comedian Bethany Black in her television debut.

Russell T Davies commented earlier this month: “The joy of Banana is in the beautiful, charming, witty and sometimes heart breaking stories of a wide variety of characters, be they gay, lesbian, transgender or anything in-between.”
