Two legendary composers from the world of TV and film will go into symphonic battle later this year.
Comparing and colliding on their impressive back catalogue of music, the work of David Arnold and Michael Giacchino will be performed by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
Promising music, storytelling, challenges of wit and friendly competition, Settling the Score: David Arnold vs Michael Giacchino takes place at 7:30pm on Friday 18 October 2019.
The concert will feature highlights from the composers’ most iconic scores, including Giacchino’s award-winning scores for The Incredibles, Star Trek, Up, Ratatouille, Lost and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, alongside Arnold’s epic Bond soundtracks plus Independence Day, Godzilla, Stargate and Sherlock.
Lucy Noble, Artistic Director of the Royal Albert Hall, commented: “We are also thrilled to bring an exciting new concept to the series this year, as Hollywood superstar composers David Arnold and Michael Giacchino host the ultimate ‘battle royale’ and finally ‘settle the score’ with music from Casino Royale to Mission: Impossible III.
“These two have defined the sound of this generation’s screen music, so it’ll be fascinating to see who triumphs at this epic show.”
Tickets are available to buy now on the Royal Albert Hall website.
Also coming up this autumn, Vangelis’s immortal score for Ridley Scott’s dystopian masterpiece Blade Runner can be heard live for the first time ever on Friday 25 October.
