It’s been announced that Netflix will be adapting a book series written by Del Toro and Chuck Hogan, here’s what we know so far.

Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein will be live on Netflix this November, and he’s set to produce another feature for the streaming service. The project will be based on a six-part horror story written by Del Toro and Hogan (The Strain). Here’s the information we have so far on The Boy in the Iron Box.

What’s it about?

The Boy in the Iron Box follows a group of mercenaries after they crash-land on a snowy summit. They find an abandoned fortress to take shelter in and uncover an iron box, bound in chains. When the box is opened, horror spills out.

Who’s in it?

Kevin Durand (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), Rupert Friend (The Death of Stalin) and Jaeden Martell (Knives Out) have been confirmed to star so far. Friend is set to play the leader of the mercenaries, with Martell taking on the titular box-dwelling role.

Who’s behind it?

Though the series is based on Del Toro and Hogan’s story, David Prior (The Empty Man) has been confirmed as the feature’s writer and director. Del Toro is set to produce alongside J. Miles Dale (The Shape of Water).

When’s it out?

Although no release date has been confirmed, production is set to begin in October. Stay tuned for more news!
