The mockumentary was recently given the go-ahead by Netflix, here’s the latest information we have on Jig:

The streaming giant is now developing the comedy series created by Lisa McGee (Derry Girls), a delight for fans of her work and people looking for a less terrifying take on the world of competition than the likes of Drop Dead Gorgeous. The newest information about the production gives audiences a look at what they can expect.

What’s Jig about?

Looking at the world of competitive Irish dance through the fake-documentary lens, the series will explore the characters navigating the high stakes and higher jumps of the performances. Set in a struggling dance school in Derry, two best friends are following their dreams to compete in the world championships, no matter what it takes.

Who’s behind it?

Joining McGee will be Liz Lewin (End of the F****ing World), Caroline Leddy (Four Lions) and Suzanne Mackie (The Crown), who will all be executive producers.

Filming is set to begin next year in the north of Ireland.
