The Murder Before Evensong UK date for Channel 5 has been revealed, as well as a lot of video content — we have the details

When we last covered the adaptation of Reverend Richard Coles Murder Before Evensong, we didn’t have the UK date beyond “autumn”. Now we can reveal the show is on Channel 5 on Tuesday 7th October at 9pm. Acorn TV, who make the show, has also been producing a lot of content ahead of release, clearly expecting the show to be a hit.

Remind me, what is Murder before Evensong about?

Starring Matthew Lewis as Canon Daniel Clement, the Rector of Champton, he finds himself unexpectedly entangled in a murder case when a dead body turns up in the church.

Daniel shares Champton rectory with his widowed mother Audrey (Amanda Redman) – and his two dachshunds, Cosmo and Hilda. When Daniel announces a plan to modernize the church, the parish is suddenly divided. And then a body is found dead at the back of the church. As the police move in and the bodies start piling up, Daniel is the only one who can try and keep his fractured community together… and catch a killer.

As we said above, it seems there’s plenty of commitment to the show from Acorn TV, and we won’t be surprised if it gets an early renewal, given the popularity of cozy crime.
