The Netflix December 2025 arrivals prove there’s more to enjoy than just Christmas (though that’s not ignored)
We’ve just had a quick skim of New on Netflix in December 2025, and while Christmas is naturally prominent, we’re pleased to see a great rage of films and shows to enjoy alongside the more festive offerings. As we said, it’s a skim, so apologies if we miss one of your favourites.
Netflix shows for December 2025
Of course we can’t overlook the next tranche of the final season of Stranger Things. The listing shows Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve at 5 pm PT, so adding 8 hours, gives us 1 am on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. No doubt superfans will be preparing for both.
Moving to romance, and we have the return of Emily in Paris (December 18) as well as new western The Abandons a Western set in 1850s Washington about the power battle between two families, led by powerful matriarchs played by Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey.
There’s an awful lot more, but we’ll leave you to scroll through the Netflix article.
And the films
Netflix leads with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (pictured above), and while we will certainly be watching, a lot of other titles caught our eyes. Steve Martin entertains with Cheaper by the Dozen and its sequel, Godzilla is there and there’s family favourite Kung Fu Panda (and two sequels).

We’d like to recommend Stripes. While it’s possible to join the dots between Animal House, this 1981 film and Ghostbusters, it’s very much worth watching in its own right. Bill Murray and Harold Ramis lead, there’s also Warren Oates and John Candy. It’s already available, so plenty of time to give it a shot.
