Pluribus sets a record and other news

Apple TV doesn’t publish much in the way of numbers, but has confirmed Pluribus has set a record

In an interview with show creator Vince Gilligan, Entertainment Weekly notes the following (from a link to X) Pluribus has set a record as the most watched show in Apple TV history. Congratulations Carol.

What does this Apple TV record mean in practice

Unlike (as an example) Netflix, we don’t get a lot of detailed audience numbers from Apple TV. In particular, what period do they measure over (it can’t be 91 days like Netflix as the final episode only dropped Christmas Eve). Doe they count separate seasons independently? Is this minutes or episodes viewed? Is it eclipsing all three seasons of Ted Lasso? All of Slow Horses? It would be nice to know.

We already know season 2 was long ago commissioned, and this must lend weight to the argument for more seasons to come. This takes us back to the interview with Gilligan, in which he says:

“We’re working on it. It takes us a while. I would love to go faster if I could.”

In other words, don’t hang your hat on season 2 anytime this year. We’ll let you know when we get more news.
