It’s been confirmed that The Social Network will be getting a sequel, here’s what we know so far.
The Social Network gained popularity through stellar performances from cast such as Andrew Garfield (Spiderman) and Jesse Eisenberg (A Real Pain) as well as the writing and directing from David Fincher (Zodiac) and Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing) . It’s now been announced that it’ll be getting a sequel titled The Social Reckoning.
What will it be about?
The Social Reckoning will cover events that took place over ten years since the founding of Facebook (now known as Meta). It’ll be based on the true events of what happened when a young Facebook engineer gets in touch with a Wall Street Journal reporter to investigate the social network. These findings were published as a series of articles in 2021, known as The Facebook Files.
Who’s in it?
The confirmed cast currently consists of Mikey Madison (Anora), Jeremy Allen White (The Bear), Bill Burr (Breaking Bad) and Jeremy Strong (Succession). Strong will be taking on the role of Zuckerberg, previously played by Eisenberg.
Who’s behind it?
David Fincher will not be involved with this project, Sorkin will be writing and directing. Sorkin will produce alongside Todd Black (The Piano Lesson), Peter Rice (28 Years Later) and Stuart Besser (The Trial of the Chicago 7).
When’s it out?
Production on The Social Reckoning will begin next month. Sony Pictures has currently set the release date as 9th October 2026.
