The rumours have finally turned out to be true! A movie project for Rick And Morty is currently in the works, here’s what we know:
Deadline has confirmed that there’s a movie underway based on the hit series featuring the beloved sci-fi adventuring duo and their dysfunctional family. The very large fanbase is chomping at the bit to find out more information about the project, which is currently in the early stages of development.
What’s the Rick And Morty film about?
Very little is known about the film’s storyline so far, the multiple eyes on the project has kept a lot of production details triple-locked away in a concrete box. Dan Harmon, one of the co-creators of the show, has been hinting at a feature length episode for a while – he’s been quoted that he wants it to be “super badass”. This means it’s likely that the action, guts, guns and absolute absurdity we’ve come to expect will be dialled up to a million. Coming up to its ninth season on the 24th, it could be possible this project would be a high-octane curtain call for the long-running series.
Who’s behind it?
Jacob Hair is in talks to direct the feature, he was brought in to replace co-creator Justin Roiland after he exited the series in 2023 amid felony domestic abuse charges. It’s likely we’ll also be hearing from voice actors Ian Cardoni (The Book of the Witch), Harry Belden (Rick and Morty), Chris Parnell (Family Guy), Spencer Grammer (Ironside), and Sarah Chalke (Scrubs) as they could reprise their current roles from the show for the big screen.
