The hit video game is being lines up to hit the silver screen, here’s the latest information we have on the adaptation of Sea of Thieves:

The recent news about the adaptation has given the fanbase of the massively successful video game something to be excited about. As part of the the swathe of films on Xbox properties, information has been released about the project, including who’s behind it.

What’s Sea of Thieves about?

The source material is an open-world sandbox game based greatly on the players and community around it. The ocean is vast, the ships are in competition and the adventures are bound. There’s plenty to explore and do in the game, including different civilisations to explore, different quests to embark on and different oceans with their own challenges and dangers lurking just beneath the surface. There’s a lot to work from in terms of adaptation, with the game itself presenting the challenge of abundant material to squeeze into something that feature-length.

Who’s behind it?

The producer attached to the project is Destin Daniel Cretton, the director behind Spider-Man Brand New Day. A director will be announced in the future as production continues.
